Overview
About This Tour
Tanzania's most iconic destinations can be combined and customised to your exact dates, group size, and photographic interests. The sample itinerary below follows an actual guest circuit: arrival in Arusha, a day in Tarangire for elephant herds and baobab landscapes, a full crater descent in Ngorongoro for Big Five photography, and a domestic flight to Zanzibar for Stone Town, beaches, and Indian Ocean light. Every element is adjustable — extend the safari, swap Ngorongoro for the Serengeti, or add a second Tarangire day for the Manyara tree-climbing lions. This is a starting point, not a fixed package.
Day by Day
Arrival | Arusha
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Private transfer to Arusha. Hotel: African Tulip Hotel or equivalent. Rest and prepare for safari.
📷 Settle in, review camera settings for early morning low-light conditions. Evening light on Mount Meru from Arusha.
Tarangire National Park
Early departure from Arusha for Tarangire National Park — Tanzania's elephant capital. Full-day game drive among ancient baobab trees and along the Tarangire River. In the dry season, hundreds of elephants concentrate here, alongside wildebeest, zebra, lion, and leopard. Overnight: Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge or equivalent.
📷 Elephant herds beneath 1,000-year-old baobabs — scale and texture compositions unique to Tarangire. Late afternoon light turns the baobab bark amber.
Ngorongoro Crater Descent
Early morning descent into the Ngorongoro Crater — the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. Full-day safari on the crater floor: lion prides, black rhino, elephant herds, hippo pools, and flamingo-lined Lake Magadi. The crater walls rise 600m on all sides, creating a contained world of extraordinary wildlife density. Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge on the crater rim.
📷 Black rhino at close range — one of the few places in Tanzania where this is consistently possible. Crater-floor mist clearing in golden morning light.
Fly to Zanzibar
Transfer to Arusha Airport for a scheduled domestic flight to Zanzibar. On arrival, transfer to Stone Town accommodation. The safari ends and the island experience begins — Stone Town's carved doorways, the Indian Ocean seafront, and the Forodhani Park evening market.
📷 First light on Stone Town's coral-stone alleys before the afternoon heat. Forodhani Park at dusk — lanterns, grills, and the old fort silhouette.
